Staycation at the Marriot Stanton South Beach

Staycation at the Marriot Stanton South Beach

Have you heard that saying that goes “I live where you vacation”?. Yup, I happen to live in a city where most people travel to for vacation. So, with that, I thought how cool would it be to vacation in my own city?

It was Saturday morning, we packed our weekender bags and headed off to South Beach, we were spending the weekend at the Marriot Stanton South Beach. I don’t frequent Miami Beach quite as often so every time I am there I feel like a tourist.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a picturesque and very “Art Deco” hotel. The excellent service is experience the minute you pull over to the Valet.  We were cordially welcomed the second we walked through the doors of the lobby. Checking in was a breeze and within minutes were sitting at the Deco Blue Restaurant for lunch. Our staycation had officially started!

The Deco Blue is one of the two restaurants from the hotel. The outside area overlooks both the beach and pool. The menu is superb and perfect for light bites and refreshing tropical cocktails. Because what is a vacation without a tropical Instagramable beverage, right? Before even glancing through the food options, our waiter recommended the mojitos as choice of beverage and his recommendation didn’t disappoint! For a light lunch, we opted for the grilled octopus and the fish ceviche. The octopus was grilled to perfection and the ceviche was so fresh.

Once we finished lunch, we headed to our room to change. Our room was on the 10th floor with an ocean view and WHAT A VIEW! The balconies of the rooms are perfect for a sunrise coffee or a sunset cocktail. Simply stunning.

All changed into our bathing suits we decided to head to the beach. At the beach, we were greeted by the hotel staff and offered lounge chairs and towels (which are included if you are a hotel guest. If you decided to get an umbrella they are available for an additional cost). A very friendly staff member of the hotel set our lounge chairs up and sent a waitress to offer us drinks/food. Yes! there is full restaurant service provided by Lolo’s Mexican Cantina (the other hotel restaurant) at the beach! We decided to try some drinks, we chose the Michelada and the Frose. Perfect to ease that Miami heat!

After a much-needed swim in the ocean, an afternoon snack was necessary. The Lolo’s Cantina Menu is exceptional. So many tasty choices it was hard to decide. The chicken quesadilla and guacamole with chips are a must! Our waitress Maria was so friendly. Throughout our time at the beach she was constantly asking us if we needed anything and making sure were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. Excellent service.

After the beach, we decided to take an Uber and head to Lincoln Road to do some shopping and have dinner. Lincoln Road is just a few minutes away from the hotel and is great for shopping, people watching and dinning. Our first day at our staycation was truly exceptional!

On Sunday morning, we woke up to watch the sunrise from our balcony. We saw several people doing yoga and taking a sunrise swim. The view was magical and so worth the early wake up call. For breakfast, we opted for the Deco Blue Restaurant once again. Sorry but you can’t beat that ocean view!

Before heading back home, we took one last dip in the pool. Our amazing weekend getaway was over and we had a truly exceptional time thanks to the Marriot Stanton South Beach.
